5 COMMON CARPET STAINS AND HOW TO CLEAN IT

Carpet stains are one of the most tangible and stubborn stains we have had dealt with. There are several ingredients that can put stains on carpet. But fortunately, most of the supplies you’ll need to clean the carpet are right in your kitchen.

So, before you call in a carpet cleaning service, let’s check out these common types of stains and their removal tips.

  • Coffee and Tea

Coffee and tea stains are the most common and the most stubborn stains on carpets.

Dip the cloth in a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar and gently blot the stain. Next up, pour some beer on it. Take the cloth and dab lightly. Repeat the process until it’s clean.

So, coffee to sober and beer to clean up.

  • Fruit Juice

Another common culprit that stains carpets, especially if you have kids in your home. It is another form of notorious stains that takes huge effort to eradicate. However, you can try mixing 1 ½ tablespoon of white vinegar with a tablespoon of laundry detergent and add 2 cups of water. Mix, apply and then blot the stain.

  • Wine

This one will need quick feet, quick thinking, and some science! If you spill wine, quickly blot up the spill.

Mix ¼ teaspoon of white vinegar with 32 ounces of water to fight the stain and keep blotting until it looks dry and clean.

  • Ketchup

A wet ketchup is may get omitted with warm water, but if the ketchup dries on the carpet, it might prove hard to get out. However, you can try the following for an effective result.

First, sprinkle some salt and wait for some time to let it sit on the surface. Then, vacuum over it after a few minutes. It should do the work. Afterwards, you can clean up any excess amount and repeat the process until the carpet looks clean.

  • Pet Stains

We love them. We cuddle them, but we hate to clean up after them. Cleaning up cat and dog urine from carpets is a chore, but it has to be done after all.

Clean up excess urine (if any). Mix ¼ cup of vinegar into a quart of warm water and spray the mixture onto the stain. Let it soak into the carpet. Finally, blot until dry and clean.
